The Saturday slate of Premier League games kicks off with Sheffield United hosting Manchester City at Bramall Lane. The Blades have gotten off to a terrible start and are one of four teams that have yet to win a game. City have also gotten off to a disappointing season, picking up only eight points from their first five games.
Sheffield United are at the bottom of the Premier League table with Fulham and Burnley with one point. The Blades are tied for the fewest goals and look like a team that has come crashing back to earth after last season’s surprising ninth-place finish. If Chris Wilder’s team does not improve offensively and defensively, they will be going down at the end of the season.
Manchester City cruised to their second straight Champions League victory on Tuesday, beating Marseille 3-0. While City have looked excellent in the Champions League, they have been very disappointing in the Premier League. The Citizens drew with West Ham in their last game. Pep Guardiola’s team cannot afford to drop more points if they hope to compete with Liverpool for the league title. Raheem Sterling scored against Marseille midweek and has been his club’s best player. In nine games across all competitions, Sterling has scored five goals and added four assists.
