LeBron James sounds ready to add Obama to his Lakers superteam (Video)

If LeBron James is looking to create the NBA’s next super team, he should consider adding the 44th President of the United States.

The Los Angeles Lakers are NBA Champions for the first time since 2010, after they defeated the Miami Heat in six games inside the Walt Disney World bubble in Orlando, Fla. Now, the Lakers will look to continue on their roll, but will need to add some talent to compete in the tough Western Conference. Perhaps they should look into adding a former President of the United States.

Barack Obama was in the battleground state of Michigan campaigning for his former Vice President and Democratic Party nominee Joe Biden. During some downtime, Obama began shooting a basketball at a local school gymnasium in Flint, Mich. We all know Obama had some serious game on the court, but the 44th President of the United States hit nothing but net on a three-point shot, while excitedly exclaiming “that’s what I do!” That caught the attention of many on social media, but it also caught the eye of Lakers star LeBron James!

Barack Obama: Next Lakers point man?

We know the Lakers are trying to add a point guard this offseason. Names like Chris Paul, Derrick Rose and Bradley Beal have all come to mind. But hear us out, how about Obama playing point?

Obama and James have been friends for quite some time, but they began collaborating this year as it relates to the upcoming presidential election. James created the “More than a Vote” initiative, with the purpose of having an increase in poll workers in African-American communities on Election Day.

This week, Obama was interviewed by James on “The Shop: Uninterrupted” on HBO, where they discussed the election, the importance in voting and the rise of the social justice movement across the nation. During said interview, James talked about how Obama convinced him and a variety of other players to stay in the bubble following the shooting of Jacob Blake this past August.

While it would be fun to imagine James trying to persuade Obama to join the Lake Show, the two have more important things to worry about currently, and that’s ensuring everyone has easy access to vote on Nov. 3.
