Jim Harbaugh gets flambéed on social media after Michigan chokes vs. Michigan State
By John Buhler
Jim Harbaugh was roasted on Twitter after the latest big-game loss by his Michigan Wolverines. Will he survive this year or will he get fired?
Of course, Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan football would lose a home opener to a bitter rival.
After defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers last week in primetime, Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines succumbed to defeat at home to a Michigan State Spartans team who had lost at home to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. While much of the Big Ten season is left to be written, Michigan football fans are losing their minds over yet another Harbaugh coaching disaster.
It does not look like it is getting any better under Jim Harbaugh
Even though Michigan is not in the same class as the rival Ohio State Buckeyes, the Wolverines should not have had any issues beating Mel Tucker and his team on Saturday afternoon. Again, Michigan State lost at home to Rutgers. This was Tucker’s second game leading a Big Ten team. Despite it being Harbaugh’s sixth season back in Ann Arbor, it is more of the same.
Harbaugh is earning himself on bad reputation in the Power 5. He used to be good when he was leading the Stanford Cardinal, but that was over a decade ago. Now, Harbaugh is getting harpooned as the most overrated head coach at any major school in the country. If you think someone else is more overrated than Harbaugh, please let us know. Who else is it, honestly?
From a guy who was seen as a quarterback whisperer, why are the Wolverines not even remotely interested in throwing the football down the field vs. a division rival who lost at home to flipping Rutgers? Tucker and his defensive staff had very little issues containing Joe Milton and the run-pass option. Once again, this falls back on Harbaugh and his coaching staff.
This is year six Harbaugh is leading his alma mater. Even though Ohio State is the best program in the Big Ten, one would have thought the Wolverines would have defeated the Buckeyes once by now. Instead, Michigan continues to lose big games and it is for that reason the Wolverines have yet to win a division title under Harbaugh. They should have been to Indianapolis by now.
If you want to praise a head coach for doing a great job and not winning his division, go do that with someone who actually can one day in Dan Mullen. Should his Florida Gators defeat the Georgia Bulldogs down in Jacksonville, Mullen will win his first division title in his third year at Florida. Once again, this is year six under Harbaugh and this is all it will ever be with him there.
All the credibility he gained by beating Minnesota has been lost in defeat to Michigan State.
