Former champion Regis Prograis returned to the ring after his loss to Josh Taylor and easily defeated Juan Heraldez via TKO in round 3. It wasn’t close.

On the undercard of the Oct. 31 Gevonta Davis vs. Leo Santa Cruz pay-per-view event, former junior welterweight Regis Prograis made a thunderous return to boxing by stopping Juan Heraldez in round 3.

Prograis (25-1, 20 KOs) made a name for himself in the World Boxing Super Series junior welterweight tournament. He defeated Kiryl Relikh to win the WBA title but lost it in the event’s final in 2019 in a close majority decision loss to Josh Taylor.

Heraldez (16-1-1, 10 KOs), who’s signed to Mayweather Promotions, told FanSided leading up to the fight that he felt he was a better boxer than Prograis. Unfortunately for him, Prograis decisively proved him wrong.

Regis Prograis proved that he’s still one of the best junior welterweights in the world with his round 3 TKO of Juan Heraldez

Prograis stalked Heraldez for the first two rounds. He landed numerous power punches and showed that he was levels above Heraldez early on. Things took a quick turn in round 3.

Prograis shot a straight left cross that nailed Heraldez on the chin and immediately dropped him. Heraldez got uneasily up to his feet, and Prograis swarmed him. Prograis let his hands go and was about to drop Heraldez again, but the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.

Prograis missed weight coming into this contest but showed that he was in shape and ready to dominate. It was his first fight under the PBC banner. He had a one-fight deal with them, and it will be interesting to see if he signs a long-term contract with Al Haymon and his management group.
