Javon Wims is not just a Chicago Bears wide receiver, but a professional boxer.
Javon Wims proves once again SEC football just means more, especially in the NFL.
It’s rivalry week between his Georgia Bulldogs and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson‘s Florida Gators. While they may play for the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans Saints these days, there is no love lost between these bitter SEC rivals. Wims cold-cocked Gardner-Johnson while the game was tied because them Dawgs is hell, don’t they?! So he got ejected, right in time for Georgia-Florida.
Casually watching FOX’s NFC Game of the Week at home, Carolina Panthers running back and former South Carolina Gamecocks standout Mike Davis pointed out how savage people can be on the internet. Wims not only plays wide receiver for the Bears, but he made his professional boxing debut vs. the Saints on Sunday, according to Wikipedia. Why would you not trust Wikipedia here?
It doesn’t matter what was said, as it is rivalry week down south
They say the pen is mightier than the sword, but what happens when you don’t got no paper? Diplomacy is dumb when you hate the other guy so much that you’ll punch him twice on a nationally televised game when the score is all tied up. This is Chicago, Illinois and not Jacksonville, Florida. Read the room. Then again, violence is a great way to send a message before you lose.
With Wims’ alma mater looking to start a former fourth-string quarterback in Stetson Bennett IV, he has reason to be upset that his Dawgs are going to lose to the Gators in Duval. JT Daniels might be a better pro prospect than Nick Foles, but he’s riding pine backing up “The Mailman” and this mailman isn’t even Karl Malone. The head games are already happening ahead of Saturday.
We had no idea Wims was a two-sport athlete either, but thanks to Wikipedia, now we know.
