Jim Harbaugh blames refs for Michigan’s loss to Michigan State
By John Buhler
Jim Harbaugh pointed the finger at Big Ten officials for why the Michigan State loss happened.
Jim Harbaugh believes the Big Ten officials were a reason Michigan lost to Michigan State.
In his Monday press conference, the Michigan football coach said the referees limited what his team could do in the secondary vs. Michigan State football. “There were a couple of calls that were objectionable,” said Harbaugh. “A couple of calls affected how our corners played.” The Michigan Wolverines had an impossible time stopping Michigan State Spartans wide receiver Ricky White.
Jim Harbaugh blaming the officials is not going to go over well
So what if Michigan State lost at home to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights? This Big Ten conference-only slate has been a doozy, as only the Ohio State Buckeyes look like a real threat to come out of the Power 5 conference and reach the College Football Playoff. Harbaugh should have expected a great game out of Mel Tucker‘s team on Saturday. It is only fitting Michigan came up short.
This was a loss no Harbaugh defender could defend the Michigan head football coach. If you want to get to Indianapolis for the first time in your coaching tenure, you do not lose at home to your ‘little brother’ right after they lost at home to Rutgers. Blaming the officials is something that losers do. On the quest to become a champion, you first must embrace accountability.
For a minute there, America thought this year was going to be different for Michigan under Harbaugh’s watch. We thought they got a fantastic win on the road over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. As it turns out, Minnesota is not as good as we thought. The Gophers just lost on the road to the Maryland Terrapins in overtime to fall to 0-2 on the young Big Ten season.
Michigan has enough problems and does not need Harbaugh to beef with the Big Ten officials.
