Four-star 2021 Athlete Billy Bowman is joining Oklahoma football.

Oklahoma football got another stud athlete Monday when Denton, TX native and four-star athleteĀ Billy Bowman made his commitment to the Sooners. Oklahoma stole one from the Texas Longhorns who were also recruiting the in-state prospect. Bowman is the No. 33 overall recruit, No. 3 athlete and the No. 6 recruit in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

With Bowman’s commitment, the Sooners now have the No. 12 recruiting class and best class in the Big 12. He was a big part of a dominant Denton Ryan Raiders team that went 15-1 (7-0 5A-1 Region I District 4) last season but lost the state championship game to the Shadow Creek Sharks 28-22.

He plays all phases of the game and makes big plays in all of them. What stands out about his game is his speed. He will be a threat on special teams. He quick, agile and elusive. When he turns the speed on nobody can stop him.

As a junior, He recorded 48 receptions, 780 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished third on the team with 792 all-purpose yards and recorded 11 tackles (seven solos), one interception and one pass breakup.

Oklahoma football has a game-changer on their hands with Bowman

According to 247Sports’ Collin Kennedy, the speed comes from his track and field background where he has run a 10.84 100-meter dash as a sophomore. He was All-State and All-District honors as a freshman and sophomore at the wide receiver and cornerback positions. Midlands Region Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks believes he will be a game-changer in all three-phases at the college level and compares him to NFL former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Cyrus Jones.

On the offensive end, he’s a nice route runner who gets off of the line of scrimmage quickly and he has good hands to go along with his quick feet.

On the defensive end, he is a hard-hitting defensive back who comes down in run support and rarely misses a tackle. In pass coverage, he has solid ball skills that will help him with the Sooners as he contributes to the Sooners defense during his career.

Oklahoma football has a solid 2021 class and it could still get better by National Signing Day.
