Running Back: Chase Edmonds $6,700

Word on the street is Kenyan Drake is ‘progressing’ with his ankle injury, but he’s still considered a question mark for this Week 9 matchup with the Miami Dolphins. With Chase Edmonds ready to take on starter duty, there’s no reason to rush Drake back just to reaggravate the injury.

Against the Seattle Seahawks, Edmonds was very good. He ran for 58 yards on just five carries, but he did a lot of his damage through the air. He had seven catches for 87 yards after Drake went down. His ability to be a checkdown for Murray gets him a lot of looks when the play doesn’t develop. He will be used creatively in Kliff Kingsbury‘s offense.

Edmonds isn’t a good play if Drake plays, but as of now that still seems unlikely. This is too good a backup to make a quick decision on the starter when there’s plenty of season in front of the Cardinals.

Edmonds has been great through the air even when Drake is in the lineup. The Seahawks game was the third time he had at least five catches. The Miami Dolphins allow 46 receiving yards to running backs per game, one of the worst in the league. They don’t have the right personnel to stop that kind of offensive attack, which will fall right into Kingsbury’s strategy this week. Edmonds is going to be a crucial part of the gameplan.

Other Options: Derrick Henry $8,900, David Johnson $6,800
