After his best performance of 2020, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has established himself as an MVP candidate.

In the 2020 FanSided NFL quarterback rankings — which go live here every Tuesday morning throughout the regular season — we use a weighted average of current and past performances, with the former meaning more than the latter.

Onward…

Scouting Report. Dallas Cowboys. 32. Pick Analysis. QB. Ben DiNucci. player. 123

2020 stats: 219 yards | 53.5 completion % | 0 TDs | 0 INTs | 5.1 YPA | 14.3 QBR

Last Week: NA

We’re not going to pile on. The kid did a decent job as a third-string quarterback making his first start. No interceptions, led some decent drives. That said, he’s clearly a third-string quarterback.

59. Miami Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa. 31. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. player

2020 stats: 102 yards | 58.3 completion % | 1 TDs | 0 INTs | 4.3 YPA | 27.0 QBR

Last Week: 27

Tagovailoa’s debut was underwhelming. He threw for 93 yards and didn’t lead a single dive more than 33 yards. Only one completion traveled more than nine yards. Miami scored 28 points, but one drive began on the Rams’ 1-yard line and two other touchdowns can via the defense and special teams.

Scouting Report. QB. 30. Pick Analysis. New York Jets. Sam Darnold. 30. player

2020 stats: 1,045 yards | 58.6 completion % | 3 TDs | 6 INTs | 5.5 YPA | 40.1 QBR

Last Week: 32

The same problems continued on Sunday in a 35-9 loss at Kansas City. Darnold was inaccurate, under consistent pressure and often left throwing to covered receivers. At least there weren’t turnovers.

New York Giants. 29. player. Scouting Report. QB. Daniel Jones. 31. Pick Analysis

2020 stats: 1,666 yards | 61.8 completion % | 7 TDs | 9 INTs | 6.1 YPA | 61.8 QBR

Last Week: 30

Between Jones’ tendency to turn the ball over, a horrid offensive line and lacking weapons, it’s been a long season for the second-year man.

58. Scouting Report. Washington Football Team. 28. player. Pick Analysis. QB. Kyle Allen

2020 stats: 548 yards | 68.8 completion % | 4 TDs | 1 INTs | 6.8 YPA | 71.3 QBR

Last Week: 29

Allen gets a chance to make noise this Sunday against the Giants at home after losing by a point to them at MetLife Stadium a few weeks ago.

QB. Denver Broncos. 27. 45. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Drew Lock. player

2020 stats: 927 yards | 58.0 completion % | 4 TDs | 5 INTs | 6.5 YPA | 37.6 QBR

Last Week: 28

Lock led an improbable fourth-quarter comeback over the Chargers, scoring 21 points in the frame. So why doesn’t he move up higher? His overall performance was lacking, including an interception and three quarters of mostly poor play. The comeback was awesome, but he needs to be more consistent.

Nick Foles. 26. player. 57. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. Chicago Bears

2020 stats: 1,411 yards | 64.8 completion % | 8 TDs | 7 INTs | 6.1 YPA | 50.0 QBR

Last Week: 26

It’s brutal watching Foles and the Bears’ offense. He’s inaccurate, completely immobile and without the ability to launch a good deep ball. Any sane person would call for the backup, until they released who it is.

QB. New England Patriots. Cam Newton. 47. Pick Analysis. 25. player. Scouting Report

2020 stats: 1,143 yards | 66.0 completion % | 2 TDs | 7 INTs | 7.3 YPA | 45.9 QBR

Last Week: 23

Simply put, it’s over. Newton isn’t helped by a total lack of weaponry around him, but his play is uninspiring. All one needs to do is glance at his passing chart from Sunday’s loss to Buffalo. Newton got off to a good start, but the wheels have come off.
