NFL trade deadline: 5 trades that should have been made to rock the league
AJ Green is shipped out to Philadelphia
Believe it or not, Travis Fulgham has been a great find for the Eagles’ offense this season. Since taking starting reps, the former Packers and Lions product has finished with 435 yards off 29 catches and has four touchdowns. The rest of the offense? Yikes is the only word to use.
Green, who seemed ready to begin fresh after a rough start with the Bengals, would immediately become the Eagles’ go-to weapon. Through seven games, the 32-year-old has 31 receptions for 316 yards and is averaging 10.2 yards per catch. Plus, with Green in a contract year, the Eagles could have signed him to an extension or used him as a cheap option to secure their spot as the leaders of the NFC East.
Carson Wentz is losing weapons left and right due to injury. The ones that stick around are best used in a limited role or recently came off the injured reserve. In a race where six games likely could win the division, the Eagles should have grabbed a veteran talent like Green to help win on the outside instead of “trusting the process” like the team they share a city with.
