Once again, the Chargers just prove they’re the best-dressed in the NFL

The Los Angeles Chargers might be losing left and right, but you have to admit they’re exciting. Led by rookie quarterback Justin Herbert, the other team from LA has a lighting power offense to build around for the future.

Although struggling, perhaps they just need a new look to change their outcome moving into the second half. Well, consider that done following Wednesday afternoon.

The Chargers’ social media account posted a photo of the team’s new helmets in full-swing at practice. The new design features a yellow outline of the iconic lightning bolt while the inside now has a dark blue finish. Needless to say, the team is going all-in with their redesign for the new decade.

Could a new look bring brighter days

Los Angeles’ powder blue design has been a staple of the franchise since its inaugural season in 1960. Since 2019, the team returned to the jerseys as their primary home uniform color. However, fans did love the 2000s colors of the navy and gold back in their San Diego days.

The Bolts’ best season since the start of the new century came when the franchise donned the color now inside the lighting. During the 2006 season, the franchise finished 14-2 under legendary play-caller Marty Schottenheimer before an early exit in the divisional round of the playoffs.

The 2020 playoffs will add a seventh seed into the mix, meaning struggling teams could rebound in just enough time to make a postseason push. Sitting at 2-5, it might be a long shot to return to January football, but Herbert has kept the team in games all season long. With 1,820 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions, perhaps the rookie sensation can do just enough to make it by and sneak into the conversation.

If not, at least the Chargers continue to win with some of the freshest uniforms in the league. This look is another monumental success for the marketing department with these helmets. Kudos to this design.
