Yankees trade rumors, Mike Trout

1. The Yankees reel in Mike Trout

At some point, the Angeles either need to build a credible contender around Mike Trout or let him move to a franchise that can give him a legitimate chance to win a World Series title. If the Yankees do decide to part with Judge, they should consider making a godfather offer to pry Trout away from the Angels.

There is zero chance that Los Angeles will accept a Judge for Trout swap straight up. The Yankees will need to include a lot more assets in the deal to merit consideration from the Angeles.

The right question to ask is how much New York should contemplate giving up before the asking price becomes too much. Either Deivi Garcia or Clarke Schmidt must be included in the deal to give the Angels another starting pitcher they desperately need.

The swing factor in this potential trade would be Jasson Dominguez. He’s a long way from contributing at the major league level, but he is the Yankees top prospect by a considerable distance. He’s the only player in this potential trade with any chance of rivaling Trout as a player at some stage in his career.

In the end, New York should include Dominguez if it gives them a chance to bring the game’s most talented player to the Bronx. Some might call it short-term thinking by the Yankees, but that’s nonsense. Trout is a player you move heaven and earth to obtain. He could transform Cashman’s roster into a legitimate dynasty.
