Tommaso Ciampa picked up a clear victory over Velveteen Dream to make up for the latter’s continued interference in recent weeks.

One week after NXT Halloween Havoc, the fall out was felt across the yellow and black brand. There were several important matches announced heading into Wednesday’s show, along with unexpected action as always.

The night started off immediately with a one-on-one match between Dakota Kai and Ember Moon. Kai got off to an early start, controlling the former champion but was unable to keep Moon on the mat. That would last until Kai would drive Moon into the steel post.

That arm would be the focal point for Kai for much of the remainder of the match. Moon regained control, landing a nasty suicide dive on Kai, but she made the mistake of going for it twice, crashing into the barricade. Kai used that opening to continue putting the pressure on Moon. Raquel Gonzalez got involved in the match just enough to create a distraction, opening the door for Kai to pin her and pick up the upset victory.

Cameron Grimes was still shaken up from last week’s Haunted House of Horrors match which did not help him heading into Wednesday’s match against Kushida. This match went right to floor where Kushida controlled Grimes with ease. Grimes escaped a couple of close calls to stay alive in this match. Grimes slowed the match down and pummeled Kushida for an extender period in the match. But once things picked up the former NJPW Junior Heavyweight champion was in control again.

Grimes made the mistake of following Kushida to the top rope. He would then suffer a top rope hammerlock variation, but before Kushida could finish him off the referee would eat a nasty bump. Grimes had the match won but the appearance of the “Zombie” referee allowed for Kushida to lock in the Hoverboard Lock for the submission win.

Drake Maverick and Killian Dain continue their fledgling partnership with another tag match. They faced off against Ever-Rise for the second time. Maverick was on the back step initially, with their opponents once again isolating him in the ring. The match would not see an outcome as Pat McAfee and his crew would come down and beat everyone up, causing a disqualification.

A big women’s match was up next between Shotzi Blackheart and Toni Storm. They started out fierce as Blackheart charged to the ring to get the match started. Blackheart tried to bring the fight early, but she was overtaken by the former NXT UK women’s champion. Storm slowed the match down to her own pace, using grappling techniques to keep her on the mat.

Blackheart rallied but missed a second kick to Storm’s head who countered with a series of suplexes. Things looked dangerous when Blackheart attempted to hit a DDT on Storm on the apron, leaving them both laid out. Blackheart would get distracted by Candice LeRae who was revealed to have stolen Blackheart’s tank. Storm took advantage of that and pinned Blackheart in the middle for the ring.

The main event of the evening was a singles match between Velveteen Dream and Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa went to work on Dream’s arm that is still in a cast. Ciampa’s penchant for violence came out in this match, especially when the two men ended up outside the ring, smashing each other into the railing and announce table.

Dream took a shortcut and went after Ciampa’s eye to finally get the former champion from him. That cast came to the advantage of Dream as he started to use it in some of his offense. Dream tried to bring a steel chair into the ring, but it backfired. Ciampa hit the Willow’s Bell and then the Fairy Tale Ending to get the victory.
