The USC Trojans are on upset alert in college football Week 10 as they start their season, joined by the Texas Longhorns and two top-10 teams in danger of losing.
It’s going to be a massive weekend for college football for a number of reasons. Week 10 not only gives us the return of the Pac-12, putting all Power 5 conferences in play, but the MAC also came back on Wednesday night to give us a little appetizer. Furthermore, we have two top-10 matchups with Georgia-Florida and Clemson-Notre Dame taking place. But some well-timed upsets would only add to the excitement.
The two marquee games of the weekend don’t have any teams being put on upset alert, though. With Clemson just three spots in the rankings ahead of Notre Dame and with Georgia as many spots clear of Florida, it’s hard to call the lower-ranked team winning in those games a viable college football upset. It’s two elite teams in similar spots jockeying for position.
But if you’re interested in a top-10 team potentially suffering an upset in Week 10, then you’re in luck. While they may not be Power 5 schools, the two highest-ranked Group of 5 teams entering this week, BYU and Cincinnati, draw potentially tricky matchups.
Beyond that, there are still plenty of other upset opportunities at hand. The Pac-12 has some scheduling quirks in an already even matchup between USC and Arizona State that could make things dangerous for the former. Meanwhile, Texas could be in line to exit the top 25 rankings just as soon as they climbed back into them.
Let’s not just gloss over all of these, though. Instead, let’s dive into the five college football teams we’re putting on upset alert in Week 10.
