Packers strike early with acrobatic TD grab by Davante Adams (Video)
The Packers started the scoring early with a touchdown grab by Davante Adams.
The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers are squaring off Thursday night in a game missing plenty of skill players on both sides. The 49ers have the bigger losses, so they will need to play near-perfect to win this one.
That plan got off to a bad start when Aaron Rodgers ripped a perfect pass to Davante Adams for a touchdown on the game’s opening drive.
Rodgers to Adams for the score
Adams made an amazing catch and the play had to be reviewed. But he got just enough of his foot and elbow in to keep the points on the board.
The Rodgers to Adams connection is off to a great start once again. The receiver now has eight touchdowns on the year and this is only his sixth game. All the talk of the Packers not acquiring a receiver at the trade deadline may not matter if Adams can stay healthy and remain elite.
A lack of receivers is what may doom the 49ers in this game. Nick Mullens is already in at quarterback and nearly the entire receiving corps is out due to COVID protocols and assorted injuries.
The Packers had their own COVID-related situation as both Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillon are out. Luckily for them, Aaron Jones is playing and this is not nearly as bad as all the absences for the 49ers.
Rodgers and Adams connected early and that may be a preview of what is to come throughout the night if the 49ers offense can’t establish long drives and also get into the end zone.
