Trevor Lawrence is officially out of COVID-19 isolation and remains out for Saturday’s game against Notre Dame.

The Clemson Tigers are still the No. 1 ranked team in the nation and face a huge test Saturday against No. 4 Notre Dame. They will once again be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence, as D.J. Uiagalelei will look to build upon his great debut last week against Boston College.

But there is still good news surrounding Lawrence. He officially came out of his mandated isolation Thursday.

Trevor Lawrence is back but still out against Notre Dame

Getting Lawrence out of isolation was the first step. Now he is set to undergo some cardiac testing as he continues to recover from COVID-19.

The most important thing here is that Lawrence does not play again until he is fully cleared. This is the expected No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. There is no need to rush him back, and even a loss at Notre Dame doesn’t doom his team’s College Football Playoff chances.

Uiagalelei threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns against Boston College and launched a comeback after Clemson trailed 28-13 at halftime. He now has experience under his belt and should be better prepared to take on a top team like Notre Dame.

Lawrence is back with the team and will essentially be like a non-active player still on the sidelines. He can help his fellow quarterback throughout Saturday’s game and also speak with the entire offense.

A COVID-19 diagnosis is a scary thing and seeing Lawrence contract the virus showed that it can truly happen to anyone. His return is fantastic news and the next step will be him getting cleared and returning to his quest for a national championship before he likely declares for the NFL Draft.
