Will Fuller and Brandin Cooks could have big success again vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It may not be one of the more exciting games in Week 9, but it someone has to win it, right? The Jacksonville Jaguars will be taking their massive losing streak into Sunday as they host the division rival Houston Texans. Texans wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Will Fuller played well in the previous game vs. the Jaguars. Will they both be top-24 wide receivers in fantasy again?

The Fantasy Footballers wanted to immediately write the notion of Cooks and Fuller doing it again off, but they know better than that. This would not be the first time Cooks and Fuller played like WR2s in the same weekend. Heck, they already did it vs. the Jaguars earlier this season. Keep in mind they also have a fantastic quarterback in Deshaun Watson throwing them the football.

What is different this time around is Jacksonville will be starting a new quarterback under center this week. With Gardner Minshew out with a busted thumb, that means rookie Jake Luton will make his first career start for the Jaguars. Though he was underrated coming out of college, Jacksonville’s offense may not be strong enough to force Houston to keep throwing the ball.

Pay close attention to who is starting at quarterback for Jacksonville

So if Cooks and Fuller plan to have top-24 wide receiver days, they will need to put up the bulk of their stats in the first half of the game. Once this one gets out of reach, that will mean David Johnson will take over from the running back position and dominate the ground game. We also need to factor in Randall Cobb into the equation, as he will be targeted in this AFC South game.

That might be the one thing we are overlooking here. Sure, the Texans could totally have a pair of top-24 wide receivers vs. the Jaguars, but it may not be Cooks and Fuller. It could end up being some combination of Cobb, Cooks and Fuller. While either Cooks or Fuller could pull it off, there is a great chance Cobb could be the guy over either one of them on Sunday vs. Jacksonville.

dark. Next. 49ers will have a skeleton crew vs. Green Bay offensively

Ultimately, it does not seem like we will see repeat of what happened last time the Texans played the Jaguars. While this game will be on the road for Houston, that will not matter in the grand scheme of things because Jacksonville is in full-blown tank mode. The only way Cooks and Fuller are both top-24 performers is if we get an unexpected shootout between Luton and Watson.
