NC State kicker Christopher Dunn celebrated his 53-yard field goal with a memorable celebration against Miami on Friday night.

During NC State’s upset bid over Miami, a legend was born.

Kicker Christopher Dunn gave college football a great new celebration gif and meme when he enthusiastically celebrated a successful field goal attempt.

Early in the fourth quarter, Dunn hit one through from 53 yards out. The celebration was epic.

Who was Dunn directing the chop at? If it was the opposing sideline it might have warranted a penalty, but only someone who hates fun would advocate for that.

It might have been the referees who drew the ire of the kicker. The kick was only supposed to be from 48 yards out but a questionable false start on the Wolfpack moved it back. It didn’t matter for Dunn, who had the leg to put it through.

Twitter absolutely loved the moment.

NC State’s great field goal celebration wasn’t enough in the end

Miami and NC State traded blows for much of Friday night. Literally, the first quarter featured back and forth scores for the two teams.

The Hurricanes opened the scoring in the second quarter to take an advantage, but NC State responded with 10 unanswered points to keep momentum from getting out of hand.

The third quarter was more of the same, but Miami settling for a field goal on one of their drives gave the Wolfpack a 38-31 lead.

Unfortunately for Dunn, his kick put NC State up 41-31, but it would be the final points on the board for his team.

Miami went on to hit two field goals before D’Eriq King completed a 54-yard touchdown pass with less than three minutes remaining to pull ahead 44-41. A late interception by NC State QB Bailey Hockman likely sealed the deal for Miami.
