NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 9 Sunday Slates Running Backs

Antonio Gibson, WAS vs. NYG ($5,800-DK/$6,200-FD)

Gibson enjoyed his best day yet as a pro at the expense of the Cowboys in Week 7  before Washington’s bye, posting 128 rushing yards and a touchdown. The versatile rookie surprisingly saw only one target in that contest, but he’s also typically an important part of the passing game and garnered four catches versus these same Giants back in Week 6. With a week to further incorporate him into the gameplan, Gibson has a chance to enjoy similar volume to what he saw versus Dallas against a New York team that’s been tough defending the ground game but prone to allowing plenty through the air to RBs.

The Giants are surrendering a solid 4.28 line yards and just 3.9 running back yards per carry. However, the G-Men have surrendered the sixth-most receptions (47) and third-most receiving yards (403) to the position, and they’re tied with several teams with the second-most touchdown receptions (three) given up to RBs as well. Then, Gibson is averaging a solid 4.4 yards per carry and boasts an impressive 20.2 percent broken-tackle rate and 86.9 percent positive run rate, giving him a foundation to potentially create some of his own good fortune on the ground against a tough defensive front.

Justin Jackson, LAC vs. LVR ($4,900-DK/$5,900-FD)

Jackson maintained lead-back status in Week 8 versus the Broncos, posting 89 yards on 17 carries and complementing them with a 3-53 line through the air on five targets. The third-year pro also has a pair of five-catch efforts already this season and went for 71 yards on 15 carries versus a tough Saints defense  back in Week 5, and his Week 9 matchup leaves him poised for a similarly productive day.

The Raiders check in allowing 140.0 rushing yards per road contest, along with the fifth-most RB yards per carry (4.82) and third-most second-level yards per carry (1.53). Las Vegas is also yielding plenty through the air to backs, as evidenced by the 45-392-1 receiving line backs have compiled against Jon Gruden’s squad. Given those vulnerabilities, Jackson could reward those who roll with him at his salaries if he indeed sees similar volume to that of Week 8, even if he does have to share some touches with Joshua Kelley and/or Troymaine Pope.
