NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 9 Sunday Slates
NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 9 Sunday Slates Wide Receivers
Marvin Jones, Jr., DET at MIN ($5,100-DK/$6,100-FD)J
Jones’ position mate Kenny Golladay exited a Week 8 loss to the Colts early with a hip injury and then missed practice both Wednesday and Thursday, putting his availability for Week 9 in serious doubt. If he ultimately sits out as he appears to be trending toward doing, Jones would bump to the role of top target for Matthew Stafford in an appealing matchup against a Vikings defense that’s often had trouble defending deep passing this season. Minnesota is allowing the third-most passing yards per game overall (287.3), including a mammoth 345.7 per home contest. The Vikings have also surrendered the fourth-highest explosive pass rate, the most touchdowns (15), the third-most DK points (47.8) and the second-most FD points (39.1) per game to WRs. In a game in which Jones could see 8-10 targets minimum if Golladay sits, he’s worth a flyer at his salaries.
Diontae Johnson, PIT at DAL ($5,000-DK/$6,000-FD)
Johnson has been a target hog in all but one of his non-injury-shortened games season, logging double-digit looks from Ben Roethlisberger on three occasions already. The second-year speedster is a trusted red-zone weapon as well, already seeing just one fewer target in that area of the field than the seven he compiled across 16 games last season. Johnson sets up well in Week 9 at his salaries, considering how ineffective the Cowboys defense has regularly been. Dallas is allowing an NFL-high 33.2 points per game and the fifth-most points per drive (2.87). The Cowboys have also yielded 14.2 yards per catch and the second-most touchdowns (14) to wideouts, along with 42.9 DK/35.2 FD points per game to the position. If Johnson draws anything close to his usual target count at his salaries, he could turn out to be one of the best fantasy-point-per-dollar values at receiver Sunday.
Jerry Jeudy, DEN at ATL ($4,700-DK/$5,700-FD)
Jeudy’s teammate Tim Patrick (hamstring) may end up as a game-time decision for this contest, but even if he does suit up, the former still sets up as a very enticing value play at his salaries. As elaborated on in Lock’s entry, the Falcons play at a very accelerated pace and force opponents to keep their foot on the gas, which sets up as good news for Jeudy’s fantasy prospects. Atlanta is also allowing a 67.0 percent catch rate and has surrendered the second-most receiving yards (1,695) to wideouts, along with an elevated 45.5 DK/36.3 FD points per contest to the position. Jeudy is coming off a career-high 10-target game against the Chargers and is seeing an impressive 27.7 percent of Denver’s air yards, setting him up for a strong showing in what is projected to be one of higher-scoring games of the week.
