LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – OCTOBER 10: Bryson DeChambeau hits his tee shot on the 16th hole during round three of the Shriners Hospitals For Children Open at TPC Summerlin on October 10, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images) /

Coming off his first Major Championship at the US Open, does Bryson DeChambeau have what it takes to bring home back to back Major Championships at Augusta?

Here is how Bryson has faired at the Masters thus far:

2019: T29 (-4)

2018: T38 (+3)

2017: Did Not Participate (DNP)

2016: T21 (+5)

As you can see, not particularly well. I understand why he is the overwhelming favorite at 8/1 odds, but will his unique style of golf translate to success in Augusta, that has yet to be determined. One thing for certain is that Bryson is playing his best golf of late. He just dominated the US Open winning by 6 strokes and being the only golfer to shoot under par.

Bryson is a high risk high reward player. He hits at as hard as possible and that’s how he gains strokes on the field. In past years, that style hasn’t yielded much success at technical courses like Augusta National. I’ll give credit where credit is due, no one has perfected this style quite like himself.

Would I be surprised if DeChambeau wins the 2020 Masters Tournament? Sort of. I don’t see his style working at this course. I will root for him though because he’s exciting to watch, just wouldn’t be betting money on him to pull through.

Now, we pay homage to the reigning Masters Champion, Tiger Woods.
