2020 NFL power rankings, Week 10: Steelers rally, Seahawks overrun
ESPN’s Michael Rothstein reported Saturday afternoon that Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford was activated from the COVID-19 list and he took the field at Minnesota. The veteran signal-caller would throw for 211 yards and one score but was picked off twice before leaving the game. The Detroit running game came up with 129 yards and 421 total yards but Matt Patricia’s defense was gashed for 275 yards rushing and 487 total yards by game’s end.
Big Blue looked to make it five consecutive wins over Washington as the teams met for the second time in four weeks. Wayne Gallman (68) and Alfred Morris (67) combined for 135 of the team’s 166 rushing yards. Daniel Jones overcame five sacks and did fumble twice but Joe Judge’s club played turnover-free football. Meanwhile, the Giants came away with five takeaways, including three interceptions of Washington quarterback Alex Smith.
It’s been a rough start for a team that has won 11 straight AFC East titles and been to four of the last six Super Bowls. But the Patriots are in the midst of a four-game losing streak, have already lost more games than they did in all of 2019 and already equaled their turnover total (15) of a season ago. Bill Belichick’s shaky roster has been the subject of discussion. And besides uneven quarterback play, New England’s run defense has been a major liability.
