Joe Flacco throws 50-yard touchdown to give Jets lead over Patriots (Video)

The New York Jets managed to score a touchdown against the New England Patriots thanks to…Joe Flacco?
Entering Monday night, the New York Jets ruled quarterback Sam Darnold out for their game against the New England Patriots due to lingering shoulder issues. So head coach Adam Gase had to lean on veteran Joe Flacco, which did nothing to boost the spirits of disgruntled and disappointed Jets fans across the globe. But then, “Elite” Joe Flacco showed up.
In the second quarter, Flacco rolled to the right and hit wide receiver Breshad Perriman for a 50-yard touchdown to give the Jets a 10-7 lead. That’s right, New York actually scored a touchdown against the Patriots!
Flacco makes history
As it turns out, that touchdown pass to Perriman carried historical significance. With that completion, Flacco passed legendary San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana for 20th on the all-time passing yards list (40,551 yards).
This wasn’t Flacco’s only touchdown of the first half either. Later on, the former Super Bowl 47 MVP dropped a dime to receiver Jamison Crowder near the edge of the end zone for an impressive toe-tap touchdown reception.
No one thought the Jets would be able to give the Patriots a run for their money, but this New England team is struggling mightily this season. New York winning, which is certainly tearing apart a fanbase expecting the team to tank for Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. But hey, a win over a division rival is a good thing, right? Right?
