2021 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks go No. 1 and No. 2 overall

Week 9 of the 2020 NFL season is officially in the books, and based on the teams picking early in the 2021 NFL Drafts, QBs will fly off the board.
The New York Jets were beaten by the New England Patriots on Monday night to close out Week 9, as they continue to search for their first win of the season. Even with Sam Darnold under contract, the Jets will pick the best prospect in the draft next April, and unfortunately for Sam, that means his time as the starter in New York is over.
With that said, here is our latest 2021 NFL mock draft.
. Quarterback. New York Jets. Trevor Lawrence. 1. player. 30
The New York Jets are by far the worst team in the NFL, and that means they will likely have the No. 1 overall pick next April. The Jets could go a number of different ways with the pick, trading it away for some big-time draft capital, and allowing general manager Joe Douglas to build around Sam Darnold.
However, if no trade is made, that means the Darnold Era is over in New York, because no team is passing on Clemson star Trevor Lawrence. This is a kid that comes along once in a while, and maybe he is the one who finally fixes this Jets franchise.
Justin Fields. 2. player. 52. . Quarterback. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars started former Oregon State star Jake Luton against the Houston Texans this past weekend, and the kid actually did an OK job. His first NFL pass was a 73-yard touchdown, and he nearly led the Jaguars to an upset victory over their divisional rival.
While Luton’s start was solid, he is not the answer, and neither is Gardner Minshew, making this pick a quarterback as well. With the No. 2 overall pick, Jacksonville grabs Ohio State star Justin Fields, hitting the reset button the quarterback position, and fixing a huge issue on their roster.
Cornerback. Dallas Cowboys. Patrick Surtain II. 3. player. 123.
The Dallas Cowboys actually gave the Pittsburgh Steelers all they could handle this past weekend, though they came away with another loss. For the Cowboys, this has been a lost season, and even in a terrible NFC East division, they could find themselves sitting with a top-5 pick next April.
With the pick, Dallas should continue to rebuild their secondary, adding the most NFL-ready defensive back in this draft class. Patrick Surtain II is a plug-and-play starter from Day 1 at the NFL level, and he joins 2020 draft pick Trevon Diggs in a young, and talented cornerback group.
