After being the clear frontrunner for the first eight weeks of the 2020 NFL season, Russell Wilson has company in the MVP race.

In the 2020 FanSided NFL quarterback rankings — which go live here every Tuesday morning throughout the regular season — we use a weighted average of current and past performances, with the former meaning more than the latter.

Onward…

Scouting Report. San Francisco 49ers. player. 42. Pick Analysis. QB. Nick Mullens. 32

2020 stats: 1,143 yards | 68.4 completion % | 5 TDs | 4 INTs | 8.6 YPA | 38.5 QBR

Last Week: NA

The stats don’t come close to representing how bad Mullens has been in his last two starts. He’s constantly chucking YOLO balls, hoping they land in the right hands. Far too often, they do not.

30. QB. New York Jets. player. 31. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Joe Flacco

2020 stats: 659 yards | 56.7 completion % | 4 TDs | 2 INTs | 6.3 YPA | 67.4 QBR

Last Week: NA

Flacco needs to get the paperwork in order. It’s time to retire and enjoy that pension. The man had a terrific career, but it’s over.

QB. Garrett Gilbert. player. Dallas Cowboys. 30. 123. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

2020 stats: 243 yards | 55.3 completion % | 1 TDs | 1 INTs | 6.4 YPA | 62.3 QBR

Last Week: NA

Gilbert actually showed some promise against Pittsburgh. He has a live arm, made some good throws in tight windows and even showcased a bit of mobility. The problem was that against pressure, he turned into a pumpkin.

29. player. Scouting Report. Jacksonville Jaguars. Jake Luton. 52. Pick Analysis. QB

2020 stats: 304 yards | 68.4 completion % | 1 TDs | 1 INTs | 8.0 YPA | 78.7 QBR

Last Week: NA

Luton threw for 304 yards in his debut, and while the Texans are atrocious and 73 of those yards came on his first attempt, he played a solid game. Intrigued to see more of him this weekend against the Packers.

Scouting Report. 28. Alex Smith. player. 58. Pick Analysis. QB. Washington Football Team

2020 stats: 362 yards | 67.3 completion % | 1 TDs | 4 INTs | 7.4 YPA | 16.3 QBR

Last Week: NA

Smith went for 325 yards and although he tossed three interceptions, looked decent enough to think he might one day find his old form. For now, though, one wonders if Washington beings in competition.

Pick Analysis. Denver Broncos. player. Scouting Report. QB. Drew Lock. 27. 45

2020 stats: 1,240 yards | 56.5 completion % | 6 TDs | 6 INTs | 6.5 YPA | 39.4 QBR

Last Week: 27

Lock isn’t getting the job done. He came into the season with so much hype, but he’s often struggling to go through reads and be accurate with his attempts. It’s tough to see the Broncos believing he’s the franchise.

26. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Nick Foles. player. 57. QB. Chicago Bears

2020 stats: 1,746 yards | 65.6 completion % | 10 TDs | 7 INTs | 6.1 YPA | 48.3 QBR

Last Week: 26

Foles had another day of sub 7.0 YPA against the Titans on Sunday. Chicago’s passing game is impossibly plodding and while Foles is but one symptom of the overall illness, he’s not playing well.

Daniel Jones. 31. QB. Pick Analysis. New York Giants. 25. player. Scouting Report

2020 stats: 1,878 yards | 62.4 completion % | 8 TDs | 9 INTs | 6.1 YPA | 60.9 QBR

Last Week: 29

Jones finally had a day where he didn’t make a crippling mistake. The turnovers have been the story of his career so far, and when he avoids them, Jones actually looks decent. We’ll see if he can make it two weeks straight against the Eagles on Sunday.
