As the Lakers get ready to defend their NBA Finals crown, the team is preparing to hit the hardwood without fans in the stands.

As amazing as it was for Los Angeles Lakers fans to see LeBron James and the rest of the team win the NBA Finals, things only would have been more special had folks been indoors to see it. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the L.A. supporters weren’t allowed back inside stadiums once the season resumed.

Looking ahead to 2020-21, it doesn’t look like things will be changing, as Shams Charania is reporting the team won’t be hosting fans next season.

It’s looking like the Lakers will go entire the campaign without hosting fans inside the Staples Center

Unless something changes, Lakers fans will have to continue watching their favorite team in action from the comfort of their own homes. It’s no secret this news is a major bummer for everyone in Los Angeles but with the rising cases of COVID-19 throughout the United States, the Lakers are deciding to play things safe.

While many out there may be disappointed, they’ll at least be able to have the confidence that the Lakers have a great shot of repeating as NBA champs. Last year, led by James, the Lakers were without question the best team in the association. Anthony Davis had an incredible first year teamed up with James, with the two poised to help Los Angeles go back-to-back.

NBA fans all over the country can’t wait for the new campaign to get started this winter. As fun as it will be to get the action back underway, it’s clear that most teams, for now, will be doing so with no one in the stands.
