NBA Offseason 2020: 5 potential landing spots for Joe Harris
By Mike Luciano
The Sixers are still a contender, but anyone with a functioning brain that watches even a handful of Philadelphia’s games can see that the lack of shooting has knee-capped them over the last few seasons. Ben Simmons continues to straight-up refuse to even think about shooting jump shots, while 7-foot-1 center Joel Embiid standing 26 feet away from the basket and inefficiently raining down jumpers helps no one. If Doc Rivers wants to add a more cost-effective shooter who can come off of the bench, he should consider Harris.
The 76ers might need to get creative with the finances to bring Harris in, as the quintet pictured above will account for $131 million by themselves, but that’s an undertaking that Philly needs to pursue.
The Al Horford and Tobias Harris contracts, as bad as they look, tie those two players to Philadelphia for the foreseeable future. The only way forward for Philadelphia is to find role players that can make up for a lack of shooting provided by their well-compensated starting rotation. Harris might need a lot of coaxing to leave Brooklyn, but Philadelphia would be a nice landing spot.
