The Miami Hurricanes look to keep their ACC title hopes alive as they travel to Blacksburg, VA to play the Virginia Tech Hokies.

For the Miami Hurricanes, their 2020 season has gone as many expected it would. The Hurricanes are 6-1, with their only loss being to the Clemson Tigers, are ranked ninth in the nation, and are very much in the play of playing the ACC title game at the end of the season, and potentially the College Football Playoff. While their season has met expectations, so has that of their quarterback, D’Eriq King.

King has been the leading force on their offense, making plays with both his arm and his feet. King has thrown for over 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns while adding another 406 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. King’s dual-threat ability has caused some headaches for opposing defensive coordinators and combine that with the Hurricanes’ rushing attack, you get a team that is averaging over 34 points and 443 yards a game.

Their opponent on Saturday, the Virginia Tech Hokies, has not had a season as many expected. Expectations had the Hokies as a contender in the ACC, but instead, they are 4-3 and are coming off a loss to Liberty that left Hokie Nation in an emotional state following a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown as time expired that was then negated because Virginia Tech had called a timeout to try and ice the kicker.

Virginia Tech is looking for a signature win this season and wants to avoid falling to .500 with just three games left in the season. Can the Hokies pull off the upset and make something of their season? Or will King and the Hurricanes offense prove to be too much for Virginia Tech to stop?

How to watch and bet on the Miami vs. Virginia Tech game

  • Date: Saturday, Nov. 14

  • Location: Blacksburg, Virginia
  • Stadium: Lane Stadium
  • TV Info: ESPN
  • Odds: Miami -2.5, O/U 67.5

Prediction: King is going to have a busy day running the ball and throwing outside of the pocket as the Hokies pass rush will be paying him a visit almost every play, but it’s what the Hokies can do once he’s outside the pocket and on the move that will determine their fate in this one. On the other side of things, Virginia Tech’s offense pieces together a good enough game that keeps them in this one down to the wire. Unfortunately, King’s ability to make big-time plays is too much to overcome as the Hurricanes score a late touchdown that puts the Hokies away and to .500 on the season.

Score: Miami 38, Virginia Tech 24
