After their big win over Clemson last week, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish go on the road to take on the Boston College Eagles.

In one of the best college football games of the 2020 college football season, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish came away with a huge win at home versus the Clemson Tigers in double-overtime. Many have said that if the Tigers had starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the outcome of the game would have been much different. But I’m here to say that Notre Dame deserves the respect they earned with their win over the number one ranked team in the country.

A big reason for their success last Saturday night is due to the play of quarterback Ian Book. Book finished the game with a 79.8 QBR, as he passed for over 300 yards and one touchdown while adding another 67 yards on the ground. Book was especially impressive on Notre Dame’s game-tying drive that sent them to overtime, including a 53-yard connection with Avery Davis on third and one that put the Irish on the Clemson four-yard line.

Book has had the pleasure of having a dominant run game, which is led by sophomore running back Kyren Williams, who has 740 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns on 128 attempts. Williams was also a key factor to the Irish’s upset win as he scored three touchdowns, including a 65-yard touchdown on the second play of the game.

The Irish take on the Boston College Eagles this Saturday against a quarterback who is pretty familiar with the game plan of Notre Dame. The Eagles starting quarterback, Phil Jurkovec, began his career at Notre Dame before transferring to Boston College. Jurkovec has been great this year for the Eagles, ranking sixth in the nation in passing yards and tied for 15th in passing touchdowns.

The Eagles enter their match up with the Irish 5-3 and are honestly having a solid season. Prior to Notre Dame taking down Clemson, the Eagles lost to the Tigers by just six points the previous week in a game that the Eagles held a 28 to 10 lead. Notre Dame needs to cautious heading into this one as the Eagles are good enough and are hungry to pull off a big-time upset that would be the exclamation point of their season.

Can the Irish avoid the big-win hangover? Or will the Eagles pull off the upset, putting the college football world into a frenzy?

Prediction: Boston College is going to make Notre Dame earn this one and will be in this game until the final possession. Book and Jurkovec will perform as they have all season, each passing for over 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns. But the x-factor in this game is Notre Dame’s rushing attack. The Eagles allow 143.8 yards a game on the ground which provides an opportunity for the Irish to have a balanced attack on offense. The Eagles put up a fight but the Irish are too much and avoid the upset.

Score: Notre Dame 34, Boston College 27
