With over half the SEC getting postponed due to COVID-19, this is a great opportunity to watch two 2-4 teams face off.
There simply aren’t many SEC games being played this weekend. The matchup between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Ole Miss Rebels is one of just three games being played in the Southeastern Conference. There were supposed to be four more SEC games, but the pandemic led to those contests getting postponed.
Which makes this game a great one to watch! Well, there’s that and the fact that South Carolina’s Will Muschamp is almost certainly on the hot seat at this point, right? Muschamp’s time in Columbia has been far from great and his team is currently 2-4 on the year. It certainly feels like he needs a win to stay afloat in his fifth year with the Gamecocks.
Muschamp’s team will be facing an interesting, and volatile, foe as they search for that victory. Like the Gamecocks, Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss Rebels are 2-4 on the season. But, it’s important to note that Ole Miss has shown some potential. Kiffin’s offense put up an absurd 48 points on Alabama. Kiffin’s offense has also led to his starting quarterback throwing for nine interceptions in just six games.

I don’t believe it’s impossible for these two teams to hit the over by halftime, and that’s mostly because I don’t believe in either of the defenses involved in this game. South Carolina gives up 423.8 yards per game while Ole Miss allows 533.5 yards per game. Neither of these defenses are any good.
What seems more likely though is that this game is a high scoring one and the over gets hit sometime late in the second half. I would expect Ole Miss to do more than their fair share of scoring in this one and for Muschamp’s seat to get scalding hot. Ole Miss should cover, take the over, and watch one-third of the SEC’s schedule this weekend.
