49ers were called for the worst roughing call in NFL history
By John Buhler
The San Francisco 49ers were victim to the worst roughing the passer call in NFL history.
Every San Francisco 49ers fan should be beyond furious at the NFL officials for this botch job.
There are atrocious roughing the passer calls, and there is whatever the hell Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints got away with on Sunday afternoon. 49ers defensive end Kentavius Street thought he had a sack of Brees for an eight-yard loss on a second-and-10 from the 49ers’ 21-yard line. Instead, the officials looked at the Brees and must have thought he played for Auburn.
Only Drew Brees and Auburn football players get away with this nonsense
The 49ers were already behind the eight ball on this short field for the Saints after a muffed punt. This sack would have brought up third-and-18 for the Saints. With a third-down conversion unlikely, it would have likely resulted in a made Wil Lutz field goal for New Orleans. Instead, worthless yellow laundry graced the field and it was first-and-10 from the 49ers’ 11-yard line.
A few plays later, Saints running back Alvin Kamara would find pay dirt to make it 10 all after the made PAT. It was a terrible call that likely resulted in four additional points for the Saints at home. Kyle Shanahan and the rest of his 49ers staff were enraged about the roughing the passer call on Street. The whole “used his body weight” thing is festering garbage on a This is 40 sack of Brees.
The 49ers cannot beat the Saints if the officials treat Drew Brees like he quarterbacks Auburn.
