“I should add and start a player from the lowest-scoring team in the NFL with an uncertain quarterback situation?”. This is probably what you are thinking, and that is more than fair.

However, adding Breshad Perriman is much like potentially picking up Logan Thomas. They both play in similar situations and they seem to be one of the few playmakers who their quarterbacks can rely on.

Perriman was brought in as a free agent prior to this year, and most of his season has been inconsistent as he has battled injuries. Many of his games have been lackluster, but he looked great and far healthier during the team’s Week 9 loss to the New England Patriots.

In that game, with Joe Flacco under center, Perriman had 101 yards on five catches with two touchdown grabs. He was targeted seven times.

That game against the Patriots had a few factors that you should lock in on. Mekhi Becton, Jamison Crowder, Denzel Mims, and Perriman all suited up. This was the first time all three of those receivers played in the same game together and having Becton helped the offensive line immensely.

Coming off the bye, it seems likely that trio suits up together again when the Jets travel to Los Angeles to play the Chargers. LA has defended the pass well, but the Jets’ offense looked far more vertical last game against the Patriots. Also, the Chargers have been somewhat susceptible to giving up passing scores.

If Flacco plays, you at least know he and Perriman had linked up for big plays before. If it is Sam Darnold who gets the start, Perriman still holds value has a deep threat.
