Two major title matches were on the card on Monday Night Raw and one resulted in an important title victory for Drew McIntyre heading into Survivor Series.

WWE Survivor Series is one week away but there’s still business to uncover heading into the PPV. Roman Reigns awaits the man who left on Monday with the WWE Championship over their shoulder. Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre battled for that opportunity, but there was a lot of other action that went down on the red brand on Monday.

The women started off the night with the first match of the evening. A six-woman tag opened up with Lana joined the tag team champions, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax to compete against Asuka, Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke.

Baszler started off first against Brooke, kicking the physicality off early. Outside the ring they would injure Rose, but before they could do the same to Brooke she tagged in the champion, Asuka. Lana tagged herself in in a move that cost her team the match after eating a nasty kick to the head. Asuka forced her to tap out to the Asuka Lock will her team looked on.

The tag team titles were on the line next. Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander took on the New Day for their tag team belts.

Kofi Kingston and Alexander started things off first. Alexander had some brief moments early but wasn’t able to stop Kingston to get the tag to Xavier Woods. Benjamin was able to get the offense back for his team which resulted in Woods getting isolated for much of the match. Even after Kingston got back into the match, the duo from the Hurt Business found a way to stay on top.

The New Day would not go away in this match but the Hurt Business kept up the pressure. It looked like the Hurt Business were going to win multiple times but Benjamin was sent over the top rope, allowing for the New Day to hit the Day Break on Alexander and get the win.

This match was followed by a tune up match for the Raw Survivor Series team. Braun Strowman, Sheamus, Matt Riddle and Keith Lee battled against RETRIBUTION. Ali’s group was in control for much of the match but things fell off of the rails when they were picked off outside the ring. But before Team Ray could take advantage of the situation, they started fighting in the ring. This gave Ali the opportunity to roll up Riddle for his team to win.

The Miz found himself across the ring from Bray Wyatt. Wyatt tried to extend a hand of peace to start the match, but Miz rejected it – leading to him being beaten down for most of the mat. The Miz had his moments in this match, but Wyatt went to a dark place and took everything out on the Miz. Sister Abigail hit and Wyatt pinned the Miz in the center of the ring.

The main event of the evening was a title match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. Things got off to an intense level right out of the gate. Orton tried to leave with the title but it was changed to a no DQ match. Orton was the first to take advantage of this moment as he used a steel chair against McIntyre. They continued to battle outside the ring where McIntyre attempted to put Orton through the announce table two times, but the table would not break.

The battle continued and was a hard-hitting affair until the finish. McIntyre landed the Claymore kick to drop and pin Orton in the middle of the ring.
