3 fantasy football waiver wire replacements for Christian McCaffrey
Christian McCaffrey is out again, for at least Week 11, and here are some options to replace him in your fantasy football league.
After missing Week 10 with a shoulder injury, Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey will miss Week 11 too. So his fantasy football owners will be without him yet again, even if it was expected.
McCaffrey was the No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts this year. He was just fine in Week 1 (23 carries for 97 yards, 2 TD; three catches for 38 yards). The he suffered an ankle injury in Week 2, and did not play again until Week 9. He very good in that game (18 carries for 69 yards, 1 TD; 10 catches for 82 yards, 1 TD).
There’s no easy way to replace McCaffrey, though his fantasy owners who were able to pick up Mike Davis were happy early in his ankle injury absence. He shouldn’t be dropped, since he’s not out for the year, and McCaffrey is presumably an option to be stashed in an IR slot in most leagues.
Davis is viable again, ahead of a great matchup against the Lions, but he’s also heavily rostered (90% on Yahoo!, 95% on ESPN). So for a solid chunk of you who are left trying to replace McCaffrey again, here are some other options to consider for at least Week 11.

Ok, so I’m cheating here by going with two guys. And if Sony Michel is available Sunday against the Houston Texans, that adds an element of uncertainty to the Patriots’ backfield.
But Harris had 22 carries for 121 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 10, and he has topped 100 yards in two of the last three games. Over his last four games, he’s averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
Burkhead got his money’s worth against Baltimore too, with six carries for 31 yards along with four catches for 35 yards and two touchdowns. One of those touchdown catches was a 24-yarder from wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. But Burkhead has three total touchdowns over the last two games, with at least three receptions in three of the last four.
In Week 11 the Patriots take on the Houston Texans, who are allowing the second-most fantasy points to running backs (Yahoo! 0.5-point PPR). They’ve allowed 11 rushing touchdowns to the position (tied for second-most in the league), and 5.5 yards per carry to opposing backs.
It depends on your scoring format, as Harris offers nothing in the passing game while Burkhead gets a mix of passing game and goal line looks. But there’s room for both to produce this week, and it’s worth checking on their availability.
