Klay Thompson officially out for 2020-21 season after tearing Achilles

Klay Thompson is officially done for 2020-21 thanks to a torn Achilles.
What was supposed to be a very positive and upbeat offseason for the Golden State Warriors instantly became a horror show after star guard Klay Thompson was found to have suffered a serious injury during an offseason workout. While fans from all 30 NBA fanbases were praying that his injury was minor, an MRI has confirmed that Thompson, who missed all of 2019-20 with a torn ACL, won’t be suiting up next year either.
Adrian Wojnarowski has confirmed for Golden State fans that the nightmare scenario has become reality, as Thompson’s 2020 season ended before it began after suffering a torn Achilles.
Klay Thompson hasn’t played a game since the 2018-19 NBA Finals
Thompson has exceeded all expectations set for him after Golden State took him with the 11th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. A five-time All-Star who has become one of the best perimeter defenders in the league, Thompson has averaged 21.6 points per game while shooting 42 percent from three-point range over his last five seasons, all of which led him to the NBA Finals and three of which ended with him putting a championship ring on his finger.
Thompson might’ve taken on a tertiary scorer role in Golden State, but he is a genuine star that might be the best catch-and-shoot player we’ve seen in the last decade. When compared with an unmatched ability to get hot quickly, Thompson will be a monumental loss for a Warriors team that is trying to get back to the postseason.
Andrew Wiggins is a proven scorer in this league, and he will do his best to minimize the loss of Thompson. However, Klay’s blend of shooting, defense, passing, and leadership is unique to him, and this crushing injury has to make Warriors fans wonder if prime Klay will ever rise again.
