Mychal Thompson thanks NBA fans on Klay’s behalf for kind thoughts after injury diagnosis
Mychal Thompson sent out a tweet thanking fans for their support after his son Klay was diagnosed with a torn achilles.
The Golden State Warriors had an awful season in 2019-20 and the plan was to get the band back together this year. That plan has been disrupted with the news of Klay Thompson tearing his achilles.
This is a crushing injury after the legendary shooter missed all of last season with a torn ACL. His father, Mychal Thompson, took to Twitter to thank everyone for reaching out in support of his son following the news.
Mychal Thompson supporting Klay
The elder Thompson is a former No. 1 overall pick and won two championships during his NBA career. He is now a broadcaster for the Los Angeles Lakers and is already hyping up his son’s return in 2021.
Klay has added to the legacy of the Thompson name by becoming one of the best shooters in NBA history. Unfortunately, a second season will be taken from him by injuries after he signed a five-year maximum deal with the Warriors in the summer of 2019.
This is a bummer for Warriors fans and for basketball fans in general. The team just landed center James Wiseman in the draft and the hope was Thompson and Steph Curry would return and become contenders once again. That is still possible without Thompson, but the task gets much more difficult.
Mychal has already seen his son become of the best players of this era. Yet he, and NBA fans, are still waiting for the second act of his son’s career. All everyone can do is hope for the best and continue to reach out with well wishes. Apparently, those can be sent into the Thompson Twitter Territory to truly be appreciated.
