College football DFS running back picks November 21:

Top Tier:

Breece Hall might be in for a good day against Kansas State, but I can guarantee you that Najee Harris is in for a big game against Kentucky. Harris is easily the top back on the slate. And it isn’t really close.

The only thing we know for sure about Oregon State is that the defense is better than they look and Jermar Jefferson is the center of the offense. Cal hasn’t been great against the run so far, so Jefferson is an interesting sleeper pick in GPP formats.

Middle Tier:

There are a lot of good backs with bad matchups on this slate. Penn State’s bugaboo has been pass defense, but Tyler Goodson could still have a good game since Iowa likes to run. He’s also a part of a committee, so nothing is guaranteed.

I really like Khalil Herbert and Stevie Scott, but they are overpriced for the matchups. If I trusted Gerrid Doaks, I would run him against UCF. His pedestrian day against ECU is perplexing though. Dedrick Mills has a great matchup, but Nebraska is using several backs right now including the quarterback.

This is the kind of game that should favor Garrett Groshek. Don’t expect a huge game. This Northwestern D is solid. However, triple digit yardage and a touchdown is doable and would be nice for his price tag.

Bargain Shoppers:

Trelon Smith is the home run back, but Rakeem Boyd’s guaranteed carries make him more of a target for me against LSU. We touched on LSU’s pass defense woes. The run defense hasn’t been a lot better. Both Arkansas backs are cheap enough to consider.

It’s a slate full of poor matchups, so I don’t mind running a cheap Camerun Peoples at CCU. He’s the lead back now and the Mountaineers will lean on him even more if Zac Thomas can’t go.

Mike Epstein is very dependent on finding the end zone, but he’s only $4,400. It’s not like he needs a huge total to pay it off. Nebraska has allowed seven rushing touchdowns in just three games. There’s a good chance that Epstein gets in if his quarterback doesn’t poach him. Chase Brown is an interesting punt as well.
