Lee Corso makes headgear pick for Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game as only he could
By Mike Luciano
Lee Corso has picked a winner for the much-hyped Oklahoma-Oklahoma State contest.
This evening will offer up arguably the best game we’ve seen in the Big 12 this season, as an Oklahoma team that is just starting to get their feet under them after a poor start will take on Spencer Sanders and Oklahoma State in the annual “Bedlam” rivalry game. While this game remains almost a coin flip, even given Oklahoma’s home field advantage, Lee Corso is as confident as he can be that Lincoln Riley will walk away with the win.
Corso doesn’t seem to think much of Mike Gundy’s explosive offense, as he is backing Spencer Rattler and Oklahoma to come out on top in his trademark bombastic style.
Former Oklahoma basketball superstar Trae Young also made his pick for the Sooners.
Oklahoma might have two losses this season, but they have history on their side
In a rivalry that has traditionally been dominated by the Sooners, Oklahoma State has several factors working in their favor tonight in Norman. Not only do the Cowboys have one of the country’s best young quarterbacks in Sanders, but future NFL stars at running back in Chuba Hubbard and wide receiver in Tylan Wallace should give a leaky Sooners defensive backfield a lot of trouble.
While they did start the season 1-2 following shocking upsets to Kansas State and Iowa State, the Sooners have won four straight after finding a groove on the offensive side of the ball. It took some time, but Rattler is starting to look like the much-hyped recruit Riley was promised. The key to this game is the Sooners’ running game, which has been stuck in neutral this season. If the likes of TJ Pledger and Rhamondre Stevenson are able to pick up yardage consistently against a suddenly stout Pokes defense, this game could get ugly early.
Even when the Cowboys come into the Bedlam Game with an extremely talented quarterback, balance on offense, and one of the country’s best receivers, they still find themselves as an underdog against the Sooners.
