Several talented NFL free agents remain on the market for playoff teams to consider signing.

The NFL playoff picture is beginning to take shape as Thanksgiving approaches. The Pittsburgh Steelers are the league’s lone remaining undefeated team, meaning there are tight races all over the league. That is even true in the dismal NFC East.

Contending teams must also take time to evaluate the roster and determine if more help is needed. The trade deadline has passed, but there are still plenty of notable names available in free agency. A few stand out above the rest and could be huge gains for teams headed to the postseason.

3. Eric Reid

Eric Reid is a 28-year-old safety who remains without a job after being cut by the Carolina Panthers back in March. The last we heard of him he turned down an offer to be on Washington’s practice squad, which appeared to be a bit of an insulting offer.

Reid has never backed down on his support of Colin Kaepernick and the act of kneeling during the national anthem. At this point it should not be an issue, but that is a larger societal problem to tackle.

He posted a career-high in tackles in 2019 and played in all 16 games for the Panthers. He also posted a new career-high in sacks with four.

There is no reason why the former first-round pick should be a free agent given both his raw talent and experience. One team out there is going to have to take a chance and will be rewarded for doing so.
