Ian Eagle proves broadcast jinx exists on Chris Boswell’s field goal
It’s best to stay away from Pittsburgh for now, Ian Eagle.
Ian Eagle might be a beloved CBS broadcaster, but he might never want to step foot in Pittsburgh again. Thanks to a “jinx bestowed upon by broadcasters, he cost the Steelers three points.
During Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Eagle was quoted talking about how accurate Steelers kicker Chris Boswell has been all season. He even said how he didn’t believe in the jinx of broadcasters being confident on their calls. Mere seconds later, Boswell missed a 45-yard kick and the fans went up in smoke.
A bad start for Pittsburgh
Earlier in the week, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said that while the Jaguars aren’t a MAC team, they can beat anyone. It’s clear Jacksonville is playing at a high level after taking the Green Bay Packers down to the wire. Currently, a field goal in their favor now them leading 3-0.
There’s no telling if the Steelers will cover the spread, but a field goal could be the difference between a win or a loss. Ben Roethlisberger needs to step up.
The Jaguars winning actually could hurt their overall stock in the race for a new quarterback. With the Gardner Minshew era likely over, the team is vying for a top-two pick to nab Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence or Ohio State’s Justin Fields. Maybe playing Jake Luton in close games is actually pretty dangerous to their stock?
For now, Eagle should be quiet on both ends of the spectrum. If the Steelers lose, he’ll be despised by the folks on the Steel City. If the Jaguars win, Duval County will never forgive him. Just stay silent Mr.Eagle for your own sake at this point.
