The Los Angeles Angels continue to poach the Atlanta Braves’ front office this Hot Stove season.

2020 was yet another disappointing year for the Los Angeles Angels, who are trying to get superstar Mike Trout to the postseason to get him his first career-win. That didn’t happen (mostly because of lackluster starting pitching), and owner Arte Moreno to fire general manager Billy Eppler. After a lengthy search, the Angels hired former Atlanta Braves assistant general manager Perry Minasian to fill his spot. As it turns out, the Angels weren’t done poaching from Atlanta’s strong front office.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Minasian hired Alex Tamin, Dominic Chiti and Rick Williams away from the Braves. Tamin will serve as Minaisian’s assistant general manager, Chiti as his special assistant and Williams as a scout.

Los Angeles becomes Atlanta West

Tamin is taking on the same position as he held with the Braves. However, it appears he’ll be the lone assistant general manager in Los Angeles instead of sharing the role like he did with Minasian in Atlanta. Prior to his three-year stint in Atlanta, Tamin worked alongside major league organizations in salary arbitration hearings for almost 15 years, per Jeff Fletcher of The OC Register.

As for Chiti, he previously served as Atlanta’s director of player development in 2019, but was reassigned to a special assistant near the end of that campaign. Prior to that, Chiti was the bullpen coach for the Texas Rangers under manager Ron Washington for two seasons (2006-07), and three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles (2014-16).

Williams is the son of Hall of Fame manager Dick Williams. Rick spent three seasons as pitching coach for the then-Florida Marlins (1995-96) and Tampa Bay Rays (1998-2000). After his pitching coach stint with Tampa, Williams transitioned into a special assistant to the general manager role. Williams served as a scout for the New York Yankees for seven seasons before joining the Braves organization in 2014 as a special assistant to the general manager for pitching development

The Braves’ front office has been subject to praise in recent years, especially this past season where they were one win away from reaching the World Series. With Perry Minasian signing on for the Angels’ general manager job, it should come as no shock to fans and the Braves themselves that he brought three of his colleagues from Atlanta to Hollywood.
