Davante Adams stands up for Marquez Valdes-Scantling after he received death threats
Green Bay Packers star Davante Adams has stepped up to defend teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling after he’s received multiple death threats since Sunday.
On Sunday, Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s fumble in overtime opened the door for the Indianapolis Colts to kick a game-winning field goal and hand Green Bay its third loss of the season. At the end of regulation, Valdes-Scantling’s huge catch set up the game-tying field goal to send things into overtime in the first place.
Looks like some Packers fans chose to ignore that, as the young wideout has unfortunately received multiple death threats following his costly turnover. Multiple teammates have come out and defended him, including stud wide receiver Davante Adams, who had a powerful message for Valdes-Scantling on Twitter.
Davante Adams didn’t waste time in defending his teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling
As you can see from Adams’ tweet, he’s got his fellow wide receiver’s back. The fact that he needed to come out and say this is quite unfortunate. While Green Bay suffered the rough loss on the road to the Colts, there is absolutely no room for anyone to send Valdes-Scantling these kinds of hurtful messages. Death threats over losing a football game? Give us a break.
Again, Valdes-Scantling helped the Packers get to overtime with his miraculous long catch from Aaron Rodgers on a 3rd down, a play where the Packers were pinned back deep in their own territory. If Valdes-Scantling didn’t make that grab, there likely would have been no extra session.
He got unlucky with his fumble, but Rodgers, Adams and others know that Valdes-Scantling will be able to bounce back. He’ll have an opportunity to do that this weekend, with Green Bay all set to host the Bears for a big NFC North showdown on Sunday night.
