The 2020 third-round pick of the Washington Football Team can’t help but find the end zone, especially on Thanksgiving.

This season, the Washington Football Team’s offense has seen some inconsistency, especially at the quarterback position. But if there’s one given on that side of the ball, it’s rookie running back Antonio Gibson and his ability to find the end zone. Of course, he did so again on Thanksgiving.

In the first quarter against the Dallas Cowboys, Gibson rushed outside to the right sideline and scored an easy five-yard touchdown to give the Football Team an early 7-3 lead. Oh, and this is the fifth-consecutive game in which Gibson scored a touchdown. Not bad for the rookie.

History is in Gibson’s sights

Gibson has already proven to be one of the bigger steals in this year’s NFL Draft. With this latest touchdown, he now has nine on the season. The most touchdowns scored by a rookie running back in Washington’s history is held by Alfred Morris, who rushed into the end zone 13 times back in 2012. With a little over a month remaining in the season, it’s safe to say that Gibson is well within reach of breaking that record.

Before he became Washington’s starting running back, he was a wide receiver at Memphis. In his senior season with the Tigers, Gibson accumulated 1,104 yards and 12 touchdowns on 71 plays from scrimmage. Months later, the Football Team selected him in the third-round with the 66th overall pick, and the rest was history.

Entering the holiday game, Gibson had tallied 530 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground on 119 carries.

Will Gibson find the end zone again at the expense of “America’s Team?” We certainly wouldn’t bet against the dark horse Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate.
