Lucas Giolito’s no-hitter was voted best MLB moment of the year and Dodgers fans are raging

Los Angeles Dodgers fans were none to pleased to see Lucas Giolito’s no-hitter getting named FOX’s best moment of the year.
This past truncated MLB season has been over for more than a month, with the closing image being the Los Angeles Dodgers hoisting the Commissioner’s Trophy for the first time since 1988. It was surely a memorable moment for their fan base, as they saw their squad get so close but fall just short in 2017 and 2018. Dodgers fans certainly thought this would win baseball’s moment of the year, but they were in for quite the surprise.
On Thanksgiving, FOX’s official MLB Twitter account revealed that the best moment of the 2020 season, as voted by their followers, was none other than Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito’s no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Aug. 26.

Dodgers fans should have voted more
Sure, Dodgers fans felt like they were robbed of winning the best moment of the weird 2020 season. But we can’t gloss over the fact that White Sox fans showed up en masse and ensured that Giolito would be rewarded with his tremendous individual accomplishment.
Giolito was an unstoppable force on that August afternoon. The White Sox ace struck out 13 Pirates batters and only surrendered one walk in Chicago’s 4-0 win. Giolito produced 30 swings-and-misses, which is the second-most ever in a no-hitter since 1988. Furthermore, Giolito’s final pitch clocked in at 97 m.p.h., showing he was far from tired in his dominant performance.
Dodgers fans can be upset that they didn’t have a moment of the year, but it’s only from one media outlet. Besides, Los Angeles holds the most prestigious award in the league right now, and that’s the Commissioner’s Trophy.
Either way, congrats to the Dodgers on winning the World Series and to Lucas Giolito for being awarded FOX Sports’ baseball moment of the year.
