NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 12 Sunday Slates Quarterbacks
Derek Carr, LV at ATL ($5,700-DK/$7,100-FD)
Carr is indisputably playing some of the best football in his career during what is now his third season under Jon Gruden’s tutelage. The veteran boasts a sparkling 19:3 TD:INT and is currently boasting the second-highest completion percentage (69.7) of his six-plus seasons. Carr even offers a bit of rushing upside on occasion (124 yards on the ground through 10 games, also the second-highest tally of his career), and Sunday, he draws what has consistently been one of the most favorable matchups for quarterbacks all season.
The Falcons come into Week 12 allowing 300.3 passing yards per game, including 308.6 per home contest. Atlanta is also yielding an NFC-high 8.0 yards per attempt, the second-most passing touchdowns overall (22) and the most DK (28.8) and FD (26.5) points per contest to quarterbacks. Raheem Morris’ squad is also facing an elevated 37.3 pass attempts per game, unsurprising given they’ve often funneled action to the air thanks to ranking in the top 10 with106.5 rushing yards per contest allowed, as well as 3.6 RB yards and 3.9 adjusted line yards surrendered per carry. Factoring in the Falcons also play at a top-10 pace (26.18 seconds between plays, the eighth-fastest in the league), opportunities for a strong return should be plentiful for Carr.
Daniel Jones, NYG at CIN ($5,500-DK/$7,200-FD)
Jones hasn’t been an appealing fantasy candidate for much of this season, as the 2019 first-round pick appears to be enduring a legitimate sophomore slump. However, the Duke product has frequently offset his struggles through the air with excellent work on the ground of late, and he’ll enter this contest against a vulnerable secondary having had a bye week to rest up and prepare for the matchup. It also bears noting Jones has been trending up to an extent in recent games, completing 67.0 percent of his passes and recording four total touchdowns in a trio of matchups against the tough defenses of the Buccaneers, Washington and the Eagles.
He now catches a relative break in the form of Cincinnati, which has allowed 271.5 passing yards per game and an NFL-high 8.4 yards per attempt at home. The Bengals are also tied with multiple teams for second-most passing touchdowns allowed (22), and while they’ve been one of the stingier units in the league in terms of overall completion percentage surrendered (62.96), they’ve been at their most generous at home while enabling opposing signal-callers to connect on 65.1 percent of their throws. Jones’ significant rushing upside — he’s tallied between 45 and 92 yards with his legs in half of his 10 games — finishes rounding out his case.
