Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has a chance at redemption in start vs. Packers
Mitchell Trubisky has a chance to win back his starting job permanently with a great game in primetime against the Packers.
Mitchell Trubisky was supposed to be the savior for the Chicago Bears. Now he is staring down free agency in the upcoming offseason after already being benched this year for Nick Foles.
But redemption is possible as the former No. 2 overall pick is back in as the starting quarterback this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
Trubisky gets a shot at a signature game
Trubisky has not thrown a pass since September 27 and last appeared in a game on November 1 when he ran the ball once before leaving with a shoulder injury. He now returns as Foles is dealing with his own injury.
This is a critical game for the entire Bears team. Chicago is 5-5 and riding a four-game losing streak. The playoffs are still well within reach and a win against Green Bay would pull the Bears right back into the NFC North race.
The Bears have a ton of important decisions to make following this season. That includes what to do at quarterback and even at head coach. Trubisky turning things around for the offense could help change the narrative and save several jobs in the process. GM Ryan Pace also has to be wondering about his own job security since he is the one who drafted Trubisky.
All the young quarterback can do is focus on Sunday’s game. He failed to reach the 250-yard mark in each of his three games this season and Bears fans are hoping Nagy will open up the playbook a bit against the Packers. The Bears only average 19 points per game so there is nothing to lose by taking some chances.
Sunday’s game against the Packers could be a major turning point in the Pace/Nagy/Trubisky era. Whether it is a good or bad turning point remains to be seen and lies in the hands of Trubisky.
