5 replacement candidates for Matt Patricia as Detroit Lions head coach
A homecoming story, Robert Saleh should have been a name on the market last season. Unfortunately, he was overlooked by several others and returned to the Bay for what could only be a struggling season defensively in San Francisco.
Born in Dearborn, Michigan, Saleh returning to his state is the feel-good story everyone needs in 2021. Granted, while the defense has certainly diminished with their 2019 No. 1-ranked finish, most of that is in large part due to season-ending injuries and players on the COVID-19/reserve list. Even with the names in place, Saleh’s squad is still a top-10 unit with limited stars.
When you think of Detroit, one can’t help but turn to the term “tough” to describe it. Building from the trenches up, Saleh can make sure the team finds a way to win defensively while trusting the offense can do enough to get by.
