Wake Forest and Miami will not play next Saturday as the Demon Deacons deal with COVID-19 positives and contact tracing. The game was already postponed once.

The first iteration of the Miami-Wake Forest game in 2020 was moved because of coronavirus cases within the Miami program. Wake Forest is now returning the favor.

On Saturday, the ACC announced the further postponement of the contest between the two ACC squads because of Wake Forest’s current troubles with COVID-19.

Wake Forest hasn’t played a game since Nov. 14 when they lost a high-scoring affair to North Carolina. Last weekend’s battle with Duke was canceled. This weekend they were supposed to play Louisville as part of a schedule shuffle, but the Cardinal were cleared to restore their previously scheduled game with Boston College.

It goes to show just how wild and unpredictable the ACC schedule has been so far this year.

There isn’t an obvious slot for Wake Forest and Miami to play

The trouble for Wake Forest and Miami will be rescheduling their game.

Assuming the Deacons can get their coronavirus cases under control, they already have dates with Notre Dame and Louisville planned for Dec. 12 and Dec. 19.

Miami also hasn’t played since Nov. 14 after their game with Georgia Tech was postponed. Since they are scheduled to play North Carolina on Dec. 12 and Georgia Tech on Dec. 19, there isn’t room to fit in another game.
