Star quarterback Trevor Lawrence was given a huge ovation by Clemson football fans ahead of his final game in Death Valley against Pitt.

The attendance at Clemson’s final home game of the season against Pitt was limited, but that didn’t stop fans from giving Trevor Lawrence a big Senior Day ovation.

When the junior quarterback was announced before the game, the crowd in Death Valley roared.

That wasn’t a typo earlier. Lawrence is a junior, but he was given Senior Day honors knowing this will be his final appearance at Memorial Stadium. He is expected to declare for the NFL Draft as soon as the season ends.

Trevor Lawrence isn’t a senior, but he’s getting the Senior Day treatment

Lawerence has definitely earned any ovations he gets from Clemson football fans. If he beats Pitt, he will tie the school record for wins as a starter at 32, matching Rodney Williams, Tajh Boyd and Deshaun Watson.

The quarterback led Clemson to a national title in 2018 and won the ACC title again in 2019. This year he is trying to propel Clemson to more playoff glory.

Unfortunately, some of that was out of his control. Lawrence and the Tigers won their first six games of the season before he tested positive for COVID-19. He was held out of two games as a result, with backup D.J. Uiagalelei beating Boston College but falling to Notre Dame.

Lawrence will need to get by Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech to stay in the Top 4 playoff places as the regular season comes to a close.

As it so happens, Pitt was the last team to beat Clemson at home all the way back in 2016.
