Jake Paul knocks Nate Robinson unconscious in Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. undercard (Video)
YouTuber Jake Paul fought in his second professional boxing match against former NBA star Nate Robinson. Paul made Robinson regret taking up boxing.
The Saturday, Nov. 28 spectacle between aged former boxing champions Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. was made even crazier with the inclusion of YouTuber Jake Paul vs. former NBA player Nate Robinson in a cruiserweight bout. Things didn’t go well for Robinson.
While not producing YouTube videos or being raided by the FBI, Paul is a boxing enthusiast who came into his contest with one professional boxing match under his belt. He knocked out fellow social media star Ali Eson Gib in round 1 in January.
Paul followed up his KO of Gib with a stoppage against Robinson.
Before the fight, Robinson was optimistic about his chances against Paul. He told FanSided weeks before the fight, “To get the opportunity to really get into the ring, I was like, alright, I’ll take the opportunity. I just want to show people and kids that with hard work and dedication, you can do anything.”
For Robinson, all his hard work wasn’t enough to defeat the larger and younger Paul.)
During his Staples Center ring walk, Paul clowned Robinson by walking out to Kurtis Blow’s basketball. They were all business during the referee’s instructions.
Nate Robinson had no business being in a boxing ring, and Jake Paul made him pay
Robinson wildly charges Paul in round 1. They got tied up, and Paul came back with an attack. It looked more like a scene out of WWE than professional boxing. The holding became excessive and halted the progress of Triller’s surprisingly entertaining production.
Robinson tried to bull charge Paul and got caught by a Paul right hand. Robinson immediately folded to the canvas. For a second, it didn’t look like he was going to beat the count, but Robinson got to his feet at nine and survived the remaining 15 seconds of the round.
Robinson continued to recklessly charge in round 2, and it didn’t take long for Robinson to run right into another Paul right hand. Robinson looked like he was out cold but got back up.
That was a bad decision.
Paul came in and delivered a right cross that did put Robinson’s lights out. He lay motionless, face down on the canvas, and didn’t move. It was a scary scene, but he started to regain consciousness after several minutes.
Paul may not be a boxer, but he does pack a punch. Unfortunately, Robinson found that out the hard way.
